Stephen congratulated Stretton State College grade 5 student Liam Molloy for winning a brand new $300 bike in the inaugural Premier's Bike Week.
The challenge was established as a way to encourage primary school students in grades 5 to 7 throughout the State to get involved in cycling.
There were 89 prizes of $300 bike shop vouchers up for grabs in the competition, one winner in each electorate.
Stephen is delighted that Liam has been selected as the winner from our community and he hopes that Liam enjoys his new bike.
The challenge conducted online in the lead-up to and during Bike Week was a terrific success. There were close to 3000 entries receievd from students all over Queensland.
The competition was established to raise awareness of the benefits of sustainable transport, the importance of being active from an early age and to get more people out and about on bikes.
Riding a bike to school is great exercise for children and teaches them the important road safety skills, and it also helps to reduce congestion on our roads.
Congratulations to all the students who took part in this competition and thanks to all the parents, teachers and principals who supported the Premier's Bike Week Challenge.
